Bowling, whats the best style and easy to learn?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I would start off just using the regular house ball and shoes, and throw straight ball — keep your thumb up and pointed towards the middle arrow.

If your serious about the sport I would take a few lessons on learning to take an approach, delivery/release, etc. ASAP… Reason for this is you want to learn the right way the first time, instead of undoing bad habits later…

Once you’ve mastered the basics — don’t rush it, rememeber practice makes perfect (or so they say, i dont think anybodys really perfect, lol — where did that saying come from, its like setting you up for failure, lol)… but anyways it does make for improvement, how’s that??? but again, its not going to happen overnight… BUt maybe after 6 mos- year or so, and you feel comfortable with the basic approach, I would then start looking to purchase your own ball..

With your own ball, drilled to you specifically, it will fit your hand better, therefore giving you more control.. You won’t have to muscle it to keep it from dropping, or the opposite where your fingers get stuck… However, I would still keep with the plastic…. and no less than 12 lbs. at a minimum, maybe even a 14… (unless you have wrist/back problems or something, then just do what you can handle)

After awhile, again when your coach thinks your ready I would get a reactive ball, and then learn the methods on hooking it. THis gives the ball better entry angle to the pocket (1-3 pins for righties, or 1-2 for lefties) so as not to leave as many nasty splits and increase chances for strikes…

Anyway, I know I tend to ramble on, but if your serious about the sport, again, first step is to get lessons…. Visit your local pro shop, they’ll get you started…

Does anyone have any cheating tips for wii sports bowling?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I already know about balancing the ball along the rail on the last frame in training, any others? I’ve seen videos of people getting perfect scores, but I’m having trouble repeating my swings for strikes.

Previous answerer… 9 pins is worthless, real points come from multiplications from strikes!

No real cheats I’ve seen or read of. People who get 300’s have just found a swing they can reproduce. I’ve seen people setup Lego robotics sets to swing the same way over and over and get 300 pts.

I did not put a question mark after my question

Thank you for letting us know that. Why is there a question mark after your statement?

what bowling ball should i buy to fit my style?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I have been Bowling for about 4 months, and already have one performance ball (ebonite magic). Its a great ball, but im thinking i need something else, for a different oil patterns. Thought maybe Storm Second Dimension or Roto Grip Cell Pearl. I bowl Aussie style (two handed, tried it once got a strike, been doing it ever since), so it has alot of crank, right handed and a medium ball speed. Average around 150, any help would be appreciated.

Go to your local pro shop and have them recommend a ball for you. They’ll watch you throw a few shots, and base their recommendation on that, as well as which oil patterns you want to use the ball for.
Don’t make your decision based on what anyone on here might suggest.

Which bowling ball is right for me?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I am a beginner bowler in the process of learning the hook. Recently on a trip to the local alley I met with an experienced bowler. I was simply using a house ball and the gentlemen commented on my form and how my technique and hook was probably as good as it could be using a house ball. He recommended the company Storm and suggested their bowling balls were quite nice. I don’t want to spent too much considering this is just a hobby of mine and something I do in my spare time with friends. BTW, I am left-handed in case that matters. The guy at the alley mentioned something about certain balls only allow the tips of your fingers rather than the entire finger in the holes and getting a ball with the proper core so that the weight is shifted to one side allowing the ball to hook better. I know I’m probably not describing it very well, again novice, but I hope you get the gist of it. I’d appreciate suggestions on what type of ball would be good for me. Thanks!

I would go with these tips for beginners and people taking up bowling as an occasional hobby. The bowler you met probably may have been advanced, but does not sound like he knows what he’s talking about. Beginners don’t need to spend outragious amounts of money, they are not real technical about bowling equipment and probably wanted to "impress" someone with misguided knowledge just so he would look good.

I’d start here…..

1. Take lessons from "certified" USBC coaches and take their technical and "bowling basics" advice to heart because if you listen to "advanced" bowlers, they may teach you their bad habits as well.

2. Don’t spend too much money on bowling equipment unless you are considering taking comprehensive lessons and joining a league for the long haul. Storm, Brunswick, AMF, MoRich, Hammer, Track, Elite, etc….. These manufacturer’s equipment basically work the same, and come in various types of Bowling Balls, coverstocks, core shapes and prices. Do some shopping and homework about what to purchase.

3. Misinformation about "technical" and equipment stuff when "advanced bowlers" tell you so, basically is what the pro shop should worry about when fitting bowlers with Bowling balls. Just tell the pro shop operator that you’re a beginner, which "house" (bowling center) you’re bowling at, type of bowling ball that most beginners purchase and what your budget is.

4. Beginners and recreational bowlers tend to purchase plastic, polyester bowling balls or even reactive urethane equipment. They are on the low end of price but will definitely last you a couple of seasons as long as you take care of it by cleaning or polishing right after bowling and not exposing them to the elements like in a car trunk.

5. Be your self on the lanes and just enjoy the sport. Don’t try to copy people’s style and don’t try to impress people on the lanes. It’s all for fun and if you get better at it, it can be rewarding.

Good luck!

Can A Super Bowl Game Be Protested, No Review On that Play Clearly Incomplete + Steeler Penalty= 29 yrd line?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

Not a Steeler hater actually my top 5 team but Arizona is my 3rd and The Refs were pro Steelers all those penalties and those two challenges Arizona had to use because the Refs couldn’t get it right. The Booth blew the game it was incomplete the tuck rule and his arm was going forward plus a 15 yard penalty on steelers would of put the ball on the 29 yard line of the Steelers and an Amazing finish. BUT THE REFS WERE PRO STEELERS AND THE BOOTH AT THE END WAS TOO. Not a Steeler hater but that was poor plus James Harrison great game but dirty play and was not ejected why?

Steelers fan reigns in:
A NFL game cannot be protested. Any sort of change or rebuttal would have to come from the NFL commissioner, Roger Goodell. Since they already gave out the trophies and speeches, I don’t see it happening. If a miracle occurred and something was officially stated it wouldn’t be until after the pro bowl.

My friends and I were watching the review in slow motion in HD on a 60" TV. We watched it about five times forward and backward. Kurt Warners arm actually did go forward two to three inches before contact. Upon contact his arm was pushed back near where his arm rotation started. When his arm returned following contact the ball popped out and his arm flew forward.
They claim the call was reviewed by the booth. An official review with the penalty would have placed the Cardinals on the 29 yard line with approximately 8 seconds left. Still a long shot. However, it wouldn’t have soured our victory.

Both teams played great despite one case of poor sportmanship. My hats are off to the Cardinals on a great season.

a mole of bowling balls would have a mass how many times greater than the mass of the moon?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

a mole of Bowling balls would have a mass how many times greater than the mass of the moon?

mole = about 6 x 10^23 particles

b-b about 16 lb = 8 Kgm

rough estimates

Moon = look it up in astronomy text, big but not that big

interesting Q

Study the idea of MOLE and Gram Atomic weight until you really understand it you will need in in chemistry

if you still have trouble ask your teacher or e-m me

How do you do the helicopter/spinner technique in bowling?

Sunday, November 29th, 2009

I have no idea what that is, but the name alone scares the living hell out of me.

I’m already having visions of some teenager swinging a 16-lb. ball at arm’s-length around and around uncontrollably, releasing when he finally gets too dizzy to hold it anymore.

Come to think of it, that would make one funny youtube video.
