I am going bowling tommorow any tips.?
Sunday, February 28th, 2010Bowling advice.?
Saturday, February 27th, 2010Any quick bowling tips? I’m using The One from Ebonite, and I have it drilled with a more mild movement because I don’t put as much rotation on the ball. I’ve used it for a year, and I was doing very well, but in the last couple of weeks I’ve been doing terrible. My average was up in the 180s – and in my last 3 matches, it has fallen to about 140.
Any quick advice or just a brief summary of the basics so I can learn how to bowl again?
Been there – done that!
Every bowler(including the pro’s) goes through slumps. What I do is tell myself.."ok, back to basics".. and then make sure I’m hitting my mark, ball speed is in check, not getting to fast with my feet, rolling not throwing the ball,etc.etc..
……….CONCENTRATE ON SPARES………..
Remember, you can avg 190 & never strike!
Also, typically any where you bowl the shot is going to be between the 5-10 boards, stay in there and move your feet accordingly! missing right = move feet right, missing left = move feet left & keep everything else the same.
Personally, I think many people make the mistake of trying to many different things all at the same time,over-concentrate & talk themselves out of a good shot, try to hard, moving every other shot and in general try to make it more complicated than it needs to be! I avg.215+ at 2 different centers,I have a SCREWED up approach (8-13 steps) Fred Flinstone some say and don’t wear bowling shoes.I do have to move my shot from time to time but generally I just move my feet. WORKS FOR ME!
BUT EVERYONE is different….and has a different way of Bowling, the key is..Just be consistant & bowl your game!
Last but not Least……..
ENJOY IT & HAVE FUN!
A Small History of Bowling Balls
Saturday, February 27th, 2010
Every man needs to practice some kind of sport in order to detach from daily activities and worries. Some prefer physical sports like soccer or football, or games that stimulate the intellect like chess. There are also other sports that can be practiced indoors with minimum requirements as far as physical abilities go. Among them we can name pool and bowling.
Let’s talk about bowling. Even though it may seem like a relatively new sport, this kind of activity has been going on for more than seven thousand years. It can be traced back to Ancient Egypt, where those guys used stone for their bowling balls.
Before the 20th century, in the US, bowling balls were manufactured from wood, oak in particular. In the beginning of the 20th century though, hard rubber was introduced as the new material used for manufacturing bowling balls, and this remained the same for over 60 years.
The next step in the manufacturing process came in the 1970s, when some people started to experiment with the hardness of plastic Bowling Balls. The developer of this project is known to be Don McCune, who was working at the time for Chuck Hamilton. The later developed a way to soften the balls with solvents, which resulted in a softer cover and higher scoring.
Because of this, USBC went as far as barring some softer bowling balls. It also represented one of the main reasons why USBC introduced some balance regulations for balls, in order to prevent the advantage of some players which could either make the ball hook more of roll earlier.
The beginning of the 1980s marked the introduction of polyurethane as the main material used for manufacturing bowling balls. Ebonite was the one to develop the technology, but the rights were sold to AMF, because the developers did not believe players would pay the high price demanded by the technology. It proved to be a big mistake.
AMF started to produce this kind of balls because they got a better grip on the polyurethane finishes that were used on the lanes manufactured from natural wood. This caused a major change and proved to be a turning point for the entire game of bowling.
In the 1990s the regulations regarding the densities of the balls were changed. Instead of a uniform sphere surrounded by a coating, perfectly centered inside the ball, other methods for manufacturing were now being developed.
No matter what kind of ball a player uses to knock down the pins, transporting the ball from your home to the bowling alley presented some problems. Because of this, bowling bags were introduced to make the task easier. The companies that manufacture the balls have started to produce bowling bags also.
For players that are interested in bowling bags and balls, the internet is the best place to start. One of the websites that offers great prices on Bowling bags, balls and any kind of bowling accessory is mgbowling.com. Check out the site and see for yourself.

HELP!!!! I’ve been accused of stealing TIPS in my workplace… WHAT SHOULD I DO?
Friday, February 26th, 2010Seriously, I’ve just started working at a well known pizza chain (that sells overpriced pizzas!) and I was on my 2nd week of training. I was accused of stealing £3.00 worth of tips by a senior waitress who is the sister of the manager! The Manager spoke to me and searched me (she did not find anything!)
I was so shocked and upset that I almost cried. Apparently I stole £1 of tip on one table and they planted £2 on a tip bowl (being clumsy, I dropped it while clearing the table) I tried to look for it but I could not find it (DAMN floorboards!) I was proper shaking and scared! (seriously to lose a job because of £3?!?!?!) and the embarasment of it (What to go to jail over £3)
The manager talked to me and said that since she does not have proof she will give me a warning and if it happens again it will be gross misconduct. She made me leave early (I was just speachless that I left!)
I really want to keep the job (just because it is hard to get a job nowadays) but I do not know what to do now…
I feel so embarrassed that I got accused of stealing and I feel upset that they could accuse me of something like that.. that they had to plant tip money to try to catch me out!
I feel so bad about it… I have a week’s holiday booked (which is a good thing) I don’t know if I should go back though…
I am just worried about how I will be treated in that job (seriously I just do not want the hassel!) Ive had enough bullying in the workplace and racial discrimination harrasment in the workplace for this year to go through that again
But if I don’t go back will it look like as if I was guilty of stealing the money?
HELP!!!! What should I do!??!
I think you should go back, but search for another job. It doesn’t help that the manager and the waitress are related. That is automatic favoritism right there. Perhaps you should report them to corporate. Most chain restaurants do not allow family to work together for that reason. For all you know that server could have been stiffed from that table and just assumed someone stole it. I’ve seen that happen a lot.

My boss wants to complicate the tipping system by declaring tips for me, is this wrong?
Thursday, February 25th, 2010I recently missed one of my meetings at work for my job at cold stone creamery. I looked in the update email they gave about the meeting and to my surprise we are changing the tip system from splitting the tip bowl every night to distributing the tips evenly at the end of the pay period. Here’s a quote from the email itself,
"Last but not least, credit card tips will soon be accepted. It’s a little different this time though. Tips will not be split at the end of each shift, but will be held by Dina. At the end of the pay period all of the tips will be added up and divided according to hours and distributed on checks accordingly. Evidently, no more cash tips."
from what I understand everyone will be getting tips depending on amount of hours they work rather than getting it the night of the job for the service they provide.
If there is any questions feel free to contact me and I will explain further, I know this is a pretty cumbersome question but I feel like I am being scammed big time here.
Thanks for the help,
Chris
Well.. you will see on the Credit card receipt the amount that was tipped to you.. keep track of this amount until payday… you never know you might make more money then tipped? If not… you a fact to backup your concerns..

Finger tip bowling?
Wednesday, February 24th, 2010I am a conventional bowler, but I am taking the summer to improve my game. I just got a brand new Tropical Storm and my proshop guy suggested i try fingertip style. Is there any suggestions that anyone may have for helping be to better myself while using this technique. I started practicing last night and am dead tired. Please help!
i was gonna say it would wear your butte out, your now carrying or supporting the ball in stead of slinging it. my friend took off from competing for 3 weeks, bowl 2- 3 games 2 days a week then go for 3-4 and you will adjust. it has really improved his style and form and his average is up 23 pins so far he uses an edge……………….
Ten Pin Bowling – Any Tips??
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010Hey, i’m going Bowling for a work do and dont want to embarras myself – Has anyone got any tips? Last time I went I scored alot of gutter balls and fell over alot.
Thanks
Don’t worry if you don’t know how to score, most alleys do this automatically.
First, remember the most important thing- do EXACTLY the same motion every time.
Now aim the ball so that if you are right handed, the ball hits the head pin, then the three (right side just behind the head pin), and push through the five pin. This headpin-threepin- and 5 pin push is known as the "Pocket"
Stand with the left big toe on the center dot. Push out and step with the right foot. Advance with the left while letting the ball fall. Advance with the right foot (ball is farthest back) and DO NOT FORCE THE THROW. Let the ball do all the work. Your right hand should end up in front of your face with arm extended. The thumb is at 11 oclock and the fore finger at 1 oclock. This follow through is very important. Just guide the ball so that it lands on the third arrow on the right. Watch where the ball goes. The first ball is the "strike ball" Make adjustments by moving left or right (board adjustment) or angle left or right so that your next strike ball hits the pocket.
When throwing the second ball, aim for the largest clusters.
Dont worry about fancy hooks. If you’re throw is consistant, it should curve all by itself.
Oh, THE MOST important thing is to have fun. and the only thing that will help is not higher scores but more beer.
