Bowling for Sandercoe

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

WINNER!! of Justin Sandercoe’s “most innovative use of a guitar” competition. :)

To answer some of the more commonly asked questions:

The music was written specially for the film by Loic Desjardins. It doesn’t have a name that I know of and it’s not available anywhere besides this film at the moment.

I used a Panasonic NV-GS280 camcorder, Stop Motion Pro, Photoshop and Sony Vegas to make the film. And some Lego. My other Lego films were shot with a Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000 webcam – a pretty cheap alternative.

It’s all stop motion – 15 frames per second, so around 1800 frames altogether. I filmed it over about three days, then spent about a day fiddling about editing and masking and stuff.

The bouncing ball effect is explained here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2xfnAQnYCHs

Don’t forget you can catch Justin’s guitar lessons at http://www.justinguitar.com – it’s all free and there’s plenty of videos starting right from the basics.

I think that’s about it. Thanks for all the comments so far. Keep them coming :)

How much does it cost to put a bowling alley in your home?

Saturday, March 20th, 2010

How much does it cost to put a Bowling alley in your home? Does anyone know people who specialize in home bowling alley installation? I want to put an alley in my basement.
lets say just one lane, automatic pin setter…and also, is it possible to salvage a lane from a closing bowling alley?

depends if you have the space for it or not b/c if you dont it will be more……but its going to cost about 500,000 i would say for a nice one

Where is the best Bowling Pro Shop to Get a Ball Drilled in Reno NV?

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Ok, so ive been bowling for about 4 years and i am planning on getting a new ball. i recently moved to reno/ carson area in NV and I want to know where the best place to get my ball drilled correctly THE FIRST TIME (this includes measuring my hand) !! without paying more than my arm! please let me know if you have any suggestions

thank you!

The best pro shops I’ve gotten bowling equipment drilled at would be at the Grand Sierra Resort’s pro shop and at the Reno National Bowling Stadium. A couple of PBA professionals I’ve bowled with in the Western Region, staff that pro shop at the Grand Sierra and provide the best in ball drilling and lessons, if needed. When the USBC national tournament hits the National Bowling Stadium, I visit the "Lane 81" pro shop because it’s staffed by representatives for all bowling equipment manufacturers and it’s like a huge candy shop for bowlers of every skill level because all new and old Bowling Balls are up for sale and upcoming releases are showcased.

Considering I’m still a part time PBA bowler, I still receive free drilling at the pro shop, but please give them a call and find out what it costs for fitting and drilling at (775) 789-2296. Good luck!

what is the best bowling ball to use without a hook?

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

I bowl a dead straight ball. i put ALOT of power behind the ball naturally. I am realitivly new to Bowling. I dont want to spend a ton of money finding the ball that is the best fit for the way that I bowl. So what would be the best ball for the way that I bowl?

If you are not putting any hook on the ball, the only thing that will matter is the weight of the ball. You will want to throw the heaviest ball you can to maximize the force with which your ball hits the pins. 16lbs is the max, if you are comfortable throwing a 16lb ball, then you should be. A plastic ball will be all that you need and this shouldn’t cost you more than $80. Anything more expensive will have a reactive coverstock which will just be a waste of money since you are not throwing a hook. The best ball for you will be a 16lb plastic ball.

Do you think Wasim Akram bowling tips has helped KKR a great deal in this IPL3?

Monday, March 15th, 2010

Well.Congrats for KKR for their second victory.Welldone.

I think Wasim Akram coaching has certainly helped KKR Bowling a great deal. All the bowlers look in fine form and even though too early too say in the tournament I feel the legend’s inputs could have been of great help for the bowlers in the first two matches.

What do you reckon?

CQ:Which IPL team has the biggest fan base?

I feel Delhi or KKR(Girls too like it:D) or any other?

There is a lot of improvement in KKR this IPL compared to the last two.

Bowling has certainly improved as they take a wkt every 17 balls, conceding just 19.79 runs. See the performance of other teams in this respect:

Delhi Daredevils – 20 balls per wkt at a cost of 22.92 runs per wkt.
Deccan Chargers – 21 balls per wkt at a cost of 26 runs per wkt.
Rajasthan Royals – 25 balls per wkt at a cost of 38.56 runs per wkt.
Kings XI Punjab – 30 balls per wkt at a cost of 35.25 runs per wkt.
Mumbai Indians – 30 balls per wkt at a cost of 52 runs per wkt.
Royal Challengers – 39 balls per wkt at a cost of 45 runs per wkt.
Chennai Super Kings – 120 balls per wkt.at a cost of 185 runs per wkt.
