not like a bowl && candle or anything superficial ,
Has it not occurred to you that maybe you shouldn’t be dabbling in this form of meditation at all? The Bible warns about this type of contact with spirits. That implies that if you do manage to contact a spirit, it won’t be of God. So even any correct advice or information given you may receive is certain to be just a lure to trap you.
Now the act of meditation in and of itself isn’t negative at all! But you should meditate on something in particular and not just leave your mind blank. Nature abhors a vacuum, as the saying goes, and who knows what you’ll attract. Another saying states that an open mind is like an open wound, you have to be careful it doesn’t get infected!
There is some very good advice in St. Paul’s letter to the Philippians:
"Finally, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." Maybe that would be a good first piece of scripture you can meditate on!
I’ve provided a link to the entire chapter below so that you can see it in context. The context is very rich.
