Ball State calls for a fair catch, but the receiver misses the ball and it hits the ground, the Ball State receiver picks the ball up after it bounces and takes off down the field (he has a good opening), the officials call the play dead because he called fair catch???
The ESPN crew goes nuts!?!?!?! How could a referee in a Conference championship game not know that fair catches only apply to CATCHES!!! The ball is live once it hits the ground.
Ball State scores a clear touchdown while down by 4 points. They do a official review of the touchdown the espn commentators show clear proof he was in, then discuss how this is an extremely easy call and that they are almost confused by the fact that they are even reviewing it. The officials review says no touchdown to the surprise of the ESPN crew, the very next play the qb fumbles and the fumble is returned 92 yards for a TD.
Ball State makes a clear pass completion during a drive they need to score on to be back in the game. The officials do a review, ESPN is confused to why they are doing a review because it was clear the guy caught the ball? The call on the field is a completion so they need clear proof that he didn’t catch it. Even at the best angle it was clear that you could not overturn the catch because you can’t see the ball touch the ground. NO completion is the call?!?!?! The next play the Center misses the snap Buffalo returns it for a TD (I COULDN’T MAKE THIS UP).
If you are keeping track that is a 21 point difference (2 Buffalo TD’s instead of a Ball state TD) because of absolute blunders by the video replay staff.
Ball State played the whole second half in a complete state of confusion, how could they be fixing the game? The players on the field started making mistakes after every bad call, people are yelling at each other IT WAS A MESS!!!
I will make something very clear I wanted Buffalo to win, it was their first conference championship game, they are going to their first bowl, their fans had to drive 7 and a half hours in the snow to get to the game, who doesn’t want a team with a .500 record to win the championship over an undefeated team. All I am saying is NOT LIKE THIS,NOT LIKE THIS!?!?!?
If Buffalo won the game, a bowl game with a MAC affiliation gets Ball State to play in it no matter what AKA more ratings and money. The BCS gets more credibility because another undefeated team is not getting left out AKA David Letterman will stop talking about how the system is broken on national TV every night.
Good thing all you retards read the fact that I wanted Buffalo to win, IN FACT I HAVE MADE A THREAD BEFORE QUESTIONING BALL STATE.
I was just saying the game had the stink of a fix.
Unlike previous responses, I read enough to see that you wanted Buffalo to win.
I’m not a BS fan either, but, I did want to see them win just to see what would happen next. I saw some pretty shaky calls. Sometimes they are honest screw-ups. Sometimes, they are made by an official who made some money and is later indicted for gambing associations. Fact not opinion, so I won’t make a guess which happened in this case. More often it is not a corrupt official, maybe.
For the same money and 1500 miles closer to home in a dome instead of the fans freezing their tails off in an Idaho winter, I’d have turned that Boise scam deal for suckers only down too. They turned the rotten offer down, not playing the team. Do you check out how good something is and turn down crummy deals, or, buy whatever is offered??
I think Boise would win big on a neutral field.
