Much cheaper, you don’t have to pay tax unless the online retailer is in the same state in some cases and you can save money that you can use for ball drilling charges. Some of the retailers even have free shipping!
I purchased a Brunswick Fury online for $104 with free shipping. The retailer accepted special pin placement and top weight requests and it took only five days to receive it via ground shipment. My local pro shop drills "internet purchased" Bowling Balls for $35 including; finger and thumb grips, drilling and tax. My entire purchase came up to $139 for a high performance ball and drilling!
That same bowling ball purchased at the same pro shop would come up to $185. I saved about $40+! Hope this helps!
