how to tell the difference between bowling balls?

How can you tell if a bowling ball is plastic, urethane, or resin by looking/holding it?

Plastic Bowling Balls have high gloss surfaces, and the ones with internal cores will have a pin, which come in various colors, such as the Columbia White/Blue/Yellow Dot series.

Urethane bowling balls nowadays have the word "urethane" printed on them, especially the ones sold at K-Mart as well as the newer house balls in bowling centers.

Some reactive urethane/resin/particle coverstock bowling balls will have their "coverstock" described on the ball, for example, Brunswick’s "Powerkoil" reactive urethane coverstock series or MoRich Industries, which will describe the ball as "reactive" in some of their models cases.

If in doubt, consult with your pro shop or check Bowlingball.com, bowling.com or bowlersparadise.com for descriptions of bowling ball coverstocks. Good luck!
