My 5 month maltese went from eating a lot and everything you gave him to barely eating anything. I think it might be because ive been switching his foods but that’s only because every time i buy one I hear terrible things about it and then i want to take him off it. I want the best food for him. I was first feeding him Purina Puppy Chow and he absolutely couldn’t get enough of it. Then I learned that is probably the worst food out there. So someone at Petsmart recommended Bil Jac. He ate it often. he didnt eat as much but he didnt mind the change. Again i read bad reviews on it so i switched again, now to Science Diet. At that point he was eating a lot less but still eating a bit and only ate it if i mixed it with water. I heard it wasn’t the best food so i finally got Natural Balance which he is not eating at all now. I try mixing it with canned food to make it more appealing and he’ll eat just about two bites and thats it. Before he’d eat every kibble in the bowl without me trying to do anything to make it better. I don’t know if i should keep searching for the best food for him and one that’ll he’ll love a lot, maybe Wellness or Innova next but i dont want him to get sick. He is still a ball of energy and still happy. Doesn’t show any abnormal signs and no side affects from changing the foods. The only thing that has changed is that he is eating a great deal less which worries me because he’s still a puppy and should be eating more so he can get all the nutrients he needs. I just miss my little fur ball that loved eating.
Natural Balance is good, if you want to switch again, switch again. But research everything first and make sure it’s what you want for him.
If you’re going to stick with NB, just leave the food down. He’ll eat it. He won’t starve himself. Don’t worry about it, he’ll eat when he’s hungry enough and get used to the food.
The reason he’s not eating it is because cheap brands contain addicting fillers, some contain sugar, but I’m not sure about the brands you named above. So just stick with it. Don’t give in and feed him the cheaper brands and don’t feed him scraps, etc, just stick with the food for now so he gets used to it.
